Chrysler Repair: Power seat wiring 1990 Lebaron Convertible, electric door locks, lebaron convertible

Question
Roland,

The seller that is removing the power seat harness is having a problem removing the entire thing.  He appears to have the harness out of the door and has the harness from the dash to the seat, but cannot disconnect these runs from the the main wiring at the dash.

Do you know if its possible to remove the seat harness in one piece from the bundle without removing the dash. Or should I have him cut both sections away and splice them back together myself? He is stuck there and I guess that the wiring diagrams would help, but I wont get them in time.  He is inclined to cut both sections off before removing anything else.

Thanks again

Bill

but I think you can pick it up in or near the driver's door. Most of the heavy duty wiring is from the door to the seat motors. Did you get that harness? Actually I think the '92 manual shows where to find the splice point. I can send you the wiring diagrams and splice points from the 90, 91 and 92 manuals which together will help you do this as close to the factory as possible.
So let me know a postal mail address, I'll xerox and mail them to you.

Hi Bill,
Good, I'll copy the pages tomorrow afternoon and get them in the mail to you.

Answer
To add to what I sent, the only wire from the dash to the seat systen is the red wire from the circuit breaker at fuse block position #3 and that one goes to the splice near the door opening. That red wire feeds the control switch, and then everything from the control switch other that that red wire goes to seat (except for one black ground wire which I described). So I wouldn't be too concerned about the involvement of the dash, except for trying to get the red 16 gauge supply wire long enough to be able to reach the splice at the base of the door opening from the control switch. If you have the electric door locks then you already have the red wire from your circuit breaker to that splice. He should try to preserve the eight wire harness from the control switch to the seat motors and the two wire harness to the wing and lumber switches.

Hi Bill,
I believe that he can disconnect the harness into its parts without doing too much cutting. It goes as follows with one bit of uncertainty (Is the seat called an enthusiast seat with adjustable wing and lumbar support? If so then there is an additional run to those motors and switches which appear to be all in the seat):
Starting at the door switch there is a 12 pin plug there. Eight of those wires go to a green disconnect and those same 8 wires go from the disconnect to a black(6) and gray (2) disconnect at the seat.
The red wire at the switch may EITHER go to a gray disconnect in the door where it picks up the 12V power supply also used by the auto door locks system OR it could go thru the door without passing a disconnect and be spliced at a location near the lower front corner of door opening at the floor which is where it meets the supply line from the circuit breaker in fuse position #3. I suspect you have that same splice so if he could get you that red wire all the way to the splice you could re-splice at your splice in the same locaction.
The black wire appears to go thru the door and directly to a body ground at the left side kick panel on the cowl.
Finally there is a red 2-wire disconnect related to the wing and lumbar system (if the seat has it) but the drawing doesn't say where that is located. He could try to find it and get as much of that wiring as possible also: the black wire also goes to the cowl ground, and the red wire goes to the same splice as the other red wire (near the floor). If the seat doesn't have the wing and lumbar pump then he probably won't find that red connector to be present.
Those are the main parts of the harness.
You could send him this response.
If you would like I can also send him the drawings which I will make this afternoon and get into the mail. Send me his mailing address.
