Chrysler Repair: Ash tray light, ash tray, grand caravan

Question
I just got a '94 6cyl Grand Caravan. The light for the ashtray doesn't work. Looking at it as best as I can, it appears that the light is disconnected. it appears that the plastic face plate above the ashtray, that covers the AC/heat things, and the lighter, has to come off to replace/hook up the light. It also appears that someone has been in there before, since this panel comes forward on the left side, but is tight on the right where the lighter is. How do I get it off without damaging it, to see if this little bulb just needs reconnecting, or needs replacing...where do I get this bulb, if I need it? Thanks, ShannonQ.

Answer
Hi Shannon,
I am sorry to say that I haven't any first hand experience or shop manual for the van that describes how to remove the panels on the center console. Usually you remove the major bezel that surrounds all the items in the central console and then you can get to each of the panels one at a time that are usually attached the sides of the console. I have a wiring diagram and it shows that the ash tray bulb and the cigar ligher bulb are powered by the same set of wires (orange wire is variable voltage (dimmer control) and black wire is the ground). So if the cigar lighter bulb works, the ash bulb is probably burned out. The size will be known once you get to it.
Good luck!
