Chrysler Repair: Climate Control Self Diagnostic, climate control system, chrysler dodge

Question
Regarding 1994 Chrysler Dodge Intrepid.

There is a combination of a temperature setting and a series of 3(?) buttons that a person can push on the climate control console in their car that will run a diagnostic on the climate control system. It then gives a code which the user can compare to a chart. I remember doing this but cannot remember where I found the codes or which buttons to push. Do you know them (codes and button combination)? Or can you point me in the direction to find them.

I am hearing a buzzing coming from the dash and the heater seems to be adjusting mildly erratically. When the climate control is turned off the buzzing stops. I am guessing it is the sun sensor as it seems to be coming from that area but I am not sure. I thought the diagnostic might confirm my suspicion.

Can you help?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Don,
The most recent ATC service manual I have is from '89, but it sounds like what you are also describing for the self diagnostic test.  You warm up the engine, and turn off the headlamps if on. You begin by selecting panel. Then you simultaneously hit the defrost, floor, and auto buttons and watch for all the symbols and indicators to light up (maybe flashing?), the blower motor should come on "high", air should come out of the panel outlets, air should become hot then cycle to cold. If any of these things don't happen tell me which. Then either: the blower will stop and a fault code will be displayed (1 thru 18) or
: display will return to prior to test settings. If you get a code, note it and press the panel button for test to resume. Continue till the display returns to prior to test setting.
Then let me know what happened/codes came out.
