Answer
Hi Mike,
There are three possible leak areas: the supply hose/clamp, the return hose/clamp, and the fuel pump proper lockring flange. Do your utmost to find out exactly where the leak is occuring so you don't unnecessarily disturb something that is not the cause. If it is the hose/clamp area then buy a new clamp and if there is sufficient hose remaining cut off the end of the hose and reclamp it. If the leak is not from the hose/clamps but rather around the large lock ring which seals the pump into the tank opening, you could try tapping clockwise on one of the ears of the lock ring using a drift and a hammer in the case that the lock ring is too loose, but don't overdue it for that can also damage the seal. If that doesn't stop the leak then you will have to drain the tank, remove the pump, and install a new seal.
If the leak appears to be around one of the external hose nipple fittings or the electrical fitting then you may have to get a new pump. I have had luck sealing very small leaks with gas tank sealing compound so that might be a last resort to try before draining the tank, etc.
