Question
1989 chrysler new yorker, 3.0 liter, auto
I believe the system needs to be recalibrated, when you use the defrost with high setting on temp the air acts like it goes away and if you put the temp setting on the coldest the air come back but the air temp is cold not hot, and if you push the high temp and high fan at the same time different numbers come up and flash 10 time's do you no what numbers to program your help will be appreciated, thank you.

Answer
Hi Chuck,
I have the '89 manual for the ATC heater system and it includes a diagnostic self-test that may give you some direction on what is wrong. So give this a try and then we'll take it from there: By pressing the control buttons in the order shown, the unit will go thru the "self-test" :
SELF-TEST
Warm up the car
Turn off running lights, if on.
Pash the 'Panel' button momentarily
Display should light
Momentarily and simultaneously push the Defroster(symbol), Floor, and Auto buttons
1.All the symbols should light
2.Blower motor should go to highest speed
3.Air should be directed to panel outlets
4.Air temp should become hot then cool
If 'no' to any of the above 4, let me know which.
Then either the display will return to the prior to test setting OR The blower will stop and the display will flash a failure code number between 1 and 18. Record the number and push the Panel button to resume the test (more numbers might be displayed, keep recording and pushing the Panel until the numbers stop coming out and the panel returns to pre-test appearance.)
Let me know which if any numbers came out.
