Chrysler Repair: 1999 Sebring v-6 firing order ..., spark plug wires, auto parts shop

Question
I replaced my spark plug wires on my 1999 Sebring LXI (not convertible - v-6).  I must have put them on wrong as the it runs extremely rough now.  Can you tell me which plug wire goes with which connector on the distributor cap?  I've gotten the firing order from the local auto parts shop, but that just gives me numbers that I can't decipher as to what plug to what distributor connection.

Please help!

thanks..

Ken.

Answer
Hi Ken,
I haven't worked on the 3.0L V-6 but my closest manual is from '94 for that engine (if you don't have the 3.0, then this info is not applicable). What is really strange is that the actual location of the internal contact pins for the rotor are not the same as the location of the plug wires in the top of the cap, due to their being some internal jumper/doglegs built-in to the cap. What the drawing shows is that the wire for the #1 plug is positioned at the cap top's wire post that faces the car's fire wall, then going counterclockwise around the cap the assignments are 3-5-4-6-2*. Believe it or not, this produces the result of a 1-2-3-4-5-6 actual firing order! So that would explain how you could really get confused and out of order.
Let me know if this corrects things.

*another way of describing the result: after you get all the wires in the cap, the # 3 and #5 wires will be on the side of the cap that faces toward the front (passenger end) of the engine, and the #4 will face the front of the car.
