Chrysler Repair: 1994 eagle summit, eagle summit, flexplate

Question
AT THE RISK OF SOUNDING TOTALY STUPID.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE THE STARTER IS LOCATED ON A 1994 EAGLE SUMMIT WITH MANUAL TRANS.BELIEVE IT IS A 1.4 LITER 5 VALVE ENGINE.

Answer
Hi Steve,
While I have to admit I haven't ever seen that engine, I would go about finding it this way:
The starter has to drive the flywheel or flexplate on the end of the engine, so the tip of the starter has to be at the seam between the engine and the transmission with the bulk of the starter body on the engine side of that seam. So if you can't see it on the front of the car side of the engine, then it is on the firewall side of the engine. Another way is to follow the largest wire attached to the + pole of the battery because that one goes directly to the starter motor (no other connections to it, raw power right to the motor). If all else fails, pull the center wire of the distributor cap so the car won't start, then have a friend crank over the engine so you can stand over the engine and listen.
