Auto body repair & detailing: Areas of Rust, mitsubishi mirage, first hope

Hello,

I have some small areas of rust on the body of my Mitsubishi Mirage. These areas are located on the bottom of the driver door and in a small nick near the gas tank. I would like to treat and paint these areas to slow the development of further rust. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on the correct way to treat the rust. Are commercial touch up paints ok to use? Is there anything else, like sanding maybe, that I should do to prep the areas before painting?

I would get a small hand held sandblaster and blast the areas thes blasters are cheap and last a long time and can be used in many jobs. this is for rusted metal I would touch up with a very small brush com. touchup paint is ok prime bare metal first before touching up first
