Chrysler Repair: engine check light 1988 dynasty, engine computer, remote starter

Question
i have a 1988 dynasty. V6 . i installed a remote starter and now my engine check light keeps coming on. the oil and all other fluids seem fine. can you give me any imput on what to check for.

Answer
Hi Trudy,
I'm not sure that the remote start is causing the light to come on. Why not readout the engine computer to see if it has stored a fault code that when dealt with will cause the light to shut off? To do that just turn the ignition key as follows: off-on-off-on-off-on  and leave at on. Do this turning action within a total time of 5 seconds. "on" means the run position, not all the way to the "start" position.
Then watch the check engine light to come on for 2 seconds, and then to begin flashing and pausing, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause and make a mental note or write it down. The last two sets of flashes will be 5 each. Then take the list of number and group them in pairs to form 2-digit numbers, just as the were read out, e.g. the last number will be a 55. Then write me back as to what other number you got. (the 55 means the readout is complete). Better do the readout twice to make sure you get the same result the second time.
