Chrysler Repair: Windshield wiper arms, auto junk yard, windshield wiper arms

Question
The motor works but I am having trouble finding the arms that attach to the motor for windshield wipers on a Chrysler 1981 Imperial.  It's old but was once had famous owners, Nancy Reagan to name one. Would really like help finding the parts I need to repair and maintain this old beauty.

Answer
Hi Shelby,
I would try a couple of approaches. First, a good auto junk yard has access to nationwide hotline for used parts at a large number of yards. You could request that they put your item out for response and see what comes of it. Second, now that the car is in its third decade it is possibly getting into the realm of antique cars and in this case another resource is a nationwide monthly publication called Hemmings Motor News wherein individuals and specialty yards advertise their items and strenghts. It is categorized by make so I would believe that you would find many yards that concentrate on vintage Chrysler models. They may have a website, I know they publish a hard copy monthly, or at least did so. Another approach is to haunt the local 'pull-it-yourself' yards in the hope that an Imperial of that vintage will be there or arrive sometime. That is probably the way to find the lowest cost part supply. Finally, if you routinely search eBay for "Chrysler Imperial" you may find there an individual who is vending parts for the marque routinely and you could inquire of that person for your needs, even if wiper arms aren't listed. Go to eBay.com and register. Then search for "Chrysler Imperial" and bookmark that page. It is then easy to follow it every few days and get a feel for what might be the likelihood of finding what you specifically need, and you can email the various venders with a question about wiper arms.
I assume you have already asked a Chrysler dealership to check and they also have done a search of the corporate warehouses to see if there are any new ones gathering dust somewhere. I have has good service at Chrysler agency parts counters.
Best wishes on your project. I know your enthusiasm will be rewarded.
