We have a 98 Grand Voyager 3.3l with 100K miles.  It has recently begun acting up.  When it has been running for about 5 minutes and is in either drive or reverse gear I hear a sound that sounds like popcorn going off inside the engine. (I told you this would be weird).  I've also noticed that when we're driving on the highway at 70MPH or so that we'll get  an occasional pop of power loss and then return to normal.  I almost think it could be gas burning in the exhaust manifold (Pure guess on my part). Any thoughts on what I should be looking for or possible solutions?

Thanks,

Ray,sounds like you need a new exhaust flange gaskit,or also called a donut, very cheep and the part will be in stock
because it is a common repair.for the power loss,I would have the fuel filter and the converter checked.Let me know what you find. Thankyou  tm
when the engine is cool !tap on the catilitic converter ,if it rattles, rreplace it. also check the drive belt.note>> if the engine was missing the check engine lite would come on.

Thanks for the info.  One last question.  Where is the fuel filter?

Thanks again for the info and your prompt response.

Answer
your local parts dealer will know where the filter is.BUT
on that van it could be in the gas tank or on top of the tank with the regulator. The car manufactors do this crazy
stuff (&^%## all the time,IT makes it hard for the tech. &
cost more $$$$..I HATE THEM !!!
