Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1967 chevelle, Chevelle glove box lock removal

Hello Robert'  I've got a glove box door lock mech. that I can't get out ??? It is locked in the closed position, so I can't close the door, and I want to remove it and repair it or replace.

Hello Kevin,

The glove box lock on a Chevelle is usually held in with a simple spring clip that has a raised lip on one end. Side the clip sideways and the mechanism is free. Incidently, I'd just replace it as they're commonly available through any Vintage Chevy parts source and inexpensive.
