Classic/Antique Car Repair: packard

Question
about how long should it take to replace lifter in 1953 327 straight 8 thunderbolt

Answer
The factory time published in the fifties by Packard called for 9.9 hours to replace the lifters in the straight 8 engine. I have always allowed 30% more time than the factory flat rate. The factory flat rate was set by a factory trained mechanic doing the job a number of times and then taking the average time.
