Classic/Antique Car Repair: Cylinder 3 and 4 run hotter?

Question
Hello Jack, is it true that cylinder 3 and 4 run hotter in a Model A engine? If it is true is there anything I can do to prevent the head gasket from being damaged? Many thanks and greetings from Germany. Regards Gernot

Answer
I have never heard of that.  If they run hotter, it's not by much.  Don't worry about it.  Your car probably overheats.  Most do, due to a clogged radiator.  If you can run 45 mph for a straight 10 min. without overheating, then you have a good system.  If you can do that, then your head gasket will be OK.  If not, search youtube for "jackbahm" and watch my video about overheating.  Good luck.  jack
