Classic/Antique Car Repair: Trying to locate my old car., old car club, pack rats

Question
Hi Brad,
I am hopeing you can help me with this.In 1963 I owned a 1955 Cadillac Coup de ville convertible,I sold it in 1966 and am now trying to find it again. The trouble is I have no paper work on that vehicle, no vin.# or plate #. All I have is some pictures.Do you have any idea where or how I should begin my search? Thank you & God Bless.
John.

Answer
This is a tough one. Without the VIN you will never really be sure that you have found the right car. That is unless there was a secret mark on the car that only you knew of. That said there a few things that I would try. First if you trade your Caddie to a dealer and they are still in business they might just be pack rats like my mother was. When I cleaned out her house on her passing I found in her office a complete list of the customers from her and my dads many years in business in the garage business. This included all the cars that they bought and sold. I still have those records, some dating back to the 1940's. Then I would check things like the Cadillac Registry on the Internet and also the local Cadillac old car club in your area and the area that you lived in when you sold the Caddie. Good luck with your search.
