Motorcycle Repair: pipe noise, cracked pipes, baffles

Question
i bought a set of straight mufflers because i wanted a louder set of pipes, after installing them , iam getting a chirping, from one side and to get rid of it i need to take out the baffles, what is the issue, do i have bad mufflers or cracked pipes???

Answer
Ken,
First thing I would do , is switch the baffles from one pipe to the other and see if the chirp stays with the pipe or follows the baffle...If the noise stays with the pipe, I would check all of the points that it contacts the bike and make sure they  are tight.  If it follows the baffle , then I would make sure that the baffle is tight in the pipe...If you cant get rid of the noise and the pipes are new...take them back and get another set...if they are used, you may have just found the reason that they were sold..lol...You can always call the manufacturer and see what the warranty is , most places are real good about service on their exhaust , even if the pipe are out of warranty....they may be able to sell you a new baffle for your pipe

Good luck
