Classic/Antique Car Repair: 55 chevy, 55 chevy valuation

Question
Hi there, I have a 55 Chevy 2 door sedan, unrestored. I would like to know what it could be worth?

Answer
Hello Bonnie,

Sorry, I would need more information to give you a good price because the prices on these cars varies so widely.

I would need to know mileage, condition and type of engine (6 or V-8), interior and exterior, and series as 2 door sedans were available in everything from the base 110, to the middle 210/Del Ray to the top of the line Bel Air. Also, any unusual options such as Air Conditioning would enhance value.

In general, the '55 remains very popular while the middle and base series 2 door sedan are particularly attractive to many people. The reason is that the Bel Air models are long gone in a restorable car at a reasonable price. Secondly, many believe that the lack of chrome on the base series shows the classic lines of the car better.

Thus, if your car is in any kind of condition, you definitely have a keeper. If you're looking to sell, I have a friend that buys these cars nationwide; just send me some pictures and the preceding requested information to pkrd40@aol.com. If you're on the selling side, I'm looking to assist you get a fair price with no profit for myself--I won't give up helping folks keep their old cars on the road for a few $$$!

Thanks,

Bob
