Classic/Antique Car Repair: Model A headlight - only brights, double filament, headlamp switch

Question
I have a 1929 Town Sedan. I asked you a question back on 6/28 about the headlight (my son had pulled the wire out). I have since got everything back together but I seem to be getting the bright light when the lights are turned on normal and no light (on that side) when the lights are turned on normal. I have only one bulb and a red and a green wire - do I have the wires crossed? I tried a different bulb (6 volt, double contact 32 - 50 candle power)- no luck either. Also the car came with no jack so I bought a scissors jack, but I can't find anything that tells me where to place the jack when changing a tire on a model A. Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
On the jack issue, you have to jack it up by the rear axle and the front axle.  It is hard to get under the rear axle, but that is the place.  At home we use the small floor jacks, but on the road you have to slide the jack under the axle and be very careful.
On the lights, I assume you have the wiring diagram.  The black and green is the bright wire leading to each headlamp and the black and red is the dim wire. These both go to the headlamp switch.  If things are mixed up, just stick with it until you figure it out.  The bulb has to be a double filament bulb so you get high and low beam.  There may be a parking lamp in there too.  Check out the diagram and you will understand it all.
Good luck
