Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1938 Buick Wiring, wiring harnesses, intensive project

Question
My main & light wiring looks like it could use a new wiring harness. How much trouble is it to change out with the car in road driving condition now without removing dash or body off the frame? Thanks Bud

Answer
I get a number of wiring jobs here in my shop. I have just finished a 49 Chevrolet. If I were to install one of the aftermarket wiring harnesses in your car like the one sold by Rhode Island Wiring, I would quote 20 hours of labor. For the most part the work can be done without removing a lot of the car. I usually pull the front seat out so that I can lay down on the floor when working up under the dash. It is a labor intensive project. Good luck.
