Mercedes: idle too high, fuel pressure regulator, throttle linkage

Question
I own a 1989 mercedes 190e 2.6. the problem I'm having is upon start up my idle climbs way up and stays there. I know the idle can't be adjusted, and I also know that if I keep driving it like this I could damage my transmission. Can you give me some pointers?

Answer
There are few things the average owner can address in your situation.
#1. Check accelerator linkage.
#2. Inspect engine mounts.

Best advice:
Take it to a Mercedes specialty shop or your local dealer.
Look up the parts costs before you decide where to take it, generally the dealer will fix it fast with fewer parts = less cost, but some Mercedes specialty shops are better and cheaper.
