QUESTION: MY information said there was suposed to be a 361 in it from the vehicle ID # someone else said it was a 318 y block. what is a y block and will a normal 318 intake fit a y block?

Answer
Ok, according to all of my reference material the 5th digit in the VIN indicates that it is a 318. To double check this there should be an engine ID code on a machined pad on the blocks left front. The code should be "B318" and then a few more digits. As far as the intake manifold fit goes, you would have to consult a parts manual to see if there is a difference between the intake manifold and gaskets between the several years that the 318 was used. Parts interchangeability is outside my realm of expertise.
