Classic/Antique Car Repair: horn, good luck jack, toothed wheel

Question
i noticed a wire hanging out of horn and was grounding itself out so i took off back cover and repaired wire now all i get is the motor running and no auoooogah sound what could be wrong???

Answer
The motor has a toothed wheel on the end of the shaft that rubs against the striker on the diaphragm.  That is what makes the sound.  Now that you have the motor turning, you have to adjust the shaft to where the toothed wheel just touches the striker.  Too tight, and the mtr wont turn, too loose, and the sound is too light.  There is an adjustment screw that moves the shaft toward the front.  If you have to, take everything apart so you understand what is going on.  You must have a horn that works and sounds good is you are going to drive the A.
Good luck
