Classic/Antique Car Repair: VIN search for 57 Chevy, hemmings motor news, 57 chevy

Question
QUESTION: I'm trying to do a VIN search for a 1957 Chevy that was originally called a '57 Biscayne, but now, I think is a '57 210. The VIN # is:A57L195024. I'm having issues with this # as it is only 10 characters long, and all the "search" sites I've been to refuse it, saying it's not got the "required # of characters". Can you help me with this at all? I really need to find what it is, as I'm helping a friend with the restoration of the car, and obviously we need to know the proper ID on the vehicle for parts purchasing. Thank you in advance for your attention to this question.        mark

ANSWER: According to what I have found the car is a 6 cylinder 150 series built in Los Angeles. Check the following site. http://www.greatoldcars.com/1955-1957%20Chevrolet3.htm

QUESTION: great..thanks for the prompt reply. Now, I've another question: can you point me to some sites where I may be able to find parts for this vehicle..especially body and interior sheet metal. my friend is trying to restore this vehicle and we're having a hard time finding decently priced parts. Again thanks in advance for your attention to this matter....mark

Answer
My stock answer for “where can I find….” Is to latch on to a copy of Hemmings Motor News, the old car hobbies classified bible. There are many companies that supply parts for old cars and you will find them in Hemmings. www.hemmings.com

Note: Nothing for a 57 Chev is going to be resonably priced.
