Classic/Antique Car Repair: temp sending unit location, upper radiator hose, temperature gauge

Question
JUST GOT A 66 NOVA STRAIGHT LINE 6 W/230HP. FOR WHATEVER REASON THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAS BEEN REMOVED. COULD YOU TELL ME WHERE TO PUT THE SENDING UNIT IN THE BLOCK? CAN'T SEEM TO FIND WHERE IT WAS REMOVED FROM.

Answer
The temp sending unit is usually mounted on the front or side of the cylinder head near the thermostat and upper radiator hose connection. On some of these models it is in the side of the 90 degree angled adaptor that bolts on the front of he cylinder head and then the upper radiator hose and thermostat adaptor bolts to it.
