Classic/Antique Car Repair: adjusting drag link to a 56 buick, acetylene torch, propane torch

Question
Hi hoping you can advise us my husband is trying to adjust the drag link on a 56 buick and no matter what it will not move might end up snapping it the way we are going can you advise us what is the correct way to adjust it many thanks marilyn

Answer
The tool for this operation is a very large heavy duty screw driver bit that is fitted so that you can use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar with it. I usually spray the adjusting screw down good with Marvel Mystery oil or WD-40 and let is sit a bit. Then using the special tool have at it. In a worst case scenario I have had to use the heat of an acetylene torch to heat the outside of the fitting red hot and then turn the screw. A propane torch will to provide enough heat to do the job. And then I have broken one or two over the years.
