Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1956 belair 6 cyl radiator bleeding procedure, temperature gauge, external oil

Question
I replaced me radiator from an automatic to a standard trans car. I have an automatic, it's the only one available right now. After I installed it with an external oil cooler I ran the engine for a good 2 hours. The top of the radiator was hot but, the top hose felt as though no fluid was flowing. I did replace the thermostat with the bas toward the engine block. At the top of the water pump is a square plug that I opened and antifreeze came out. Should I have waited a little longer to see if air comes out. Even after allowing the vehicle to idle another hour after going for a 15 minute ride, the radiator was still hot but, no flow...;.

Answer
There is no real bleeding directions for those systems. Just fill the system as full as you can get it with the engine not running and then run the engine until it burps and add more coolant. Now, what does the temperature gauge read when the radiator is hot? Let me know and we will go from there.
