Classic/Antique Car Repair: model a steering box bolts, good luck jack, pitman arm

Question
Dear Jack, Please let me know which direction the two bolts go through the frame to hold the steering box on. I swear I took the old ones off with the nuts on outer frame rail, but the replacements from Bratton's seem to be too long and the Pitman arm is actually touching the cotter pin head on the front mounting bolt nut. Also are there any washers whatsoever that go to this assembly of mounting bolts? Thanks, Pete.

Answer
You are correct.  The nuts go on the outside of the rail.  The bolts don't extend beyond the nut by much.  If just the pin is touching the arm, that won't hurt anything.  I looked at mine, and the pins are very close to the arm.
No washers are used.  The main thing is too not have anything interfere with the movement of the arm.  Make sure the pinch bolt is tight and stays that way.
good luck
