Classic/Antique Car Repair: Hood Latch, hood latch, mercury service

Question
The hood latch cable on a 1962 Lincoln I am working on broke. How do I open the hood? Or is there any access to the cable to repair it?

Answer
The last one of these that I opened after the cable had broken was when I was a Lincoln Mercury Service manager. We padded the left front fender and with padded long screw drivers pried op the drivers side corner of the hood. Then peaked in using a flash light until we could see the latch. With a long 1/4 inch or so long rod reached the release on the latch and popped that side. It was then easier to lift the hood from that side a little more and using the same procedure popped the right side latch. Good luck.
