Classic/Antique Car Repair: 67 camaro, car insurance claim, 67 camaro

Question
Hi Mr. Sears, my husband and I own a 67 camaro. It was in the body shop getting some rush removed. The gentlemen that we hired to do the work called us yesterday and said when he was almost through with the buffing the driver's side window came off track. He has been trying to get it back on track and even called a glass company and they said they wouldn't touch it because it was a classic car. Any suggestions or ideas as to how we can get this issue resolve. Any help you can get would be great. Thank You

Answer
My experience has been that most chain and franchised glass shops will not touch classic car stuff due to liability. They are set up for the quick modern car insurance claim glass replacement. I use a one man glass guy locally that will touch the old cars. Or if you are mechanically inclined you can take off the door panel and see where the problem is. Or look in your local yellow pages and see if there is a restoration shop in your area. If you take the door apart yourself then re ask the question and we will go step by step.
