Classic/Antique Car Repair: 54 Hudson SuperJet alignment., short money, mechanical shop

Question
Hi Brad, I have a 1954 Hudson SuperJet with 83,500 org mi on it. My front end is wearing out the tires on the outside 1/3 of each tire. I've jacked it up and things seem fairly tight for a car car of this era, so I think it's just out of alignment. The local tire shops here in Apopka FL say they can't line it up. Can I %26 how do I do this myself? Thanks for your time. - Tim

Answer
I have an old Snap On magnetic alignment set that I used in the family garage during the late 1940's up to the late 1960's. I see these sets at auto flea markets every so often for short money. I do all my own alignments even my modern car with this rig but you need a really level place to work as it is a level type device. The second suggestion is to forget about tire shops as they are more production type places. Find a mechanical shop that specializes in alignment and I'll bet that they can do the job.
