Question
QUESTION: When starting the automatic choke engages but takes ages to return to idle. When I first had the car I just flipped the the pedal and it idled straighaway, now it does not.

ANSWER: Hi Robert:
It shouldn't take but a few minutes to warm up during winter and even less in the summer. The automatic choke could be sticking. Open the hood and manually tap it with you finger. Work it a few times to see if it releases with ease. I put a little silicone spay on mine every now and then.

Answer
HI Robert:
You could have a bad sensor, but before you replace it, try really stumping the pedal to the floor quickly and releasing it. The RR should only require a light tap of the pedal, but if the choke is bad this will certainly release it. If so, you may need a new choke or just keep working it for a while until she is back to normal. In some old cars the only way to release the choke is to quickly floor the pedal.
