Classic/Antique Car Repair: coil springs, chevy truck, coil springs

Question
I have a Modified '55 Chevy truck and want to raise the front end about 2 to 3 inches. I have already put new big block springs in it but it still sits to low. The front end came from a '76 Camaro. Can I put in Special springs to raise it up?

Answer
Changing the springs to raise or lower a vehicle is really not the best way to go. This will change the front end steering and alignment geometry and could add some real bad handling and tire wear problems. Also the heavier springs will make the ride rougher. Check the following site, http://www.hotrodsusa.com/ and see if anyone makes a replacement spindle that will do what you want. It will not change the geometry and will work.
