Classic/Antique Car Repair: carburetor, coolant temperature sensor, canister purge valve

Question
how do i adjust carb on a 87 cutlass supreme 307,5.0,y series. it is running to rich.

Answer
There is no simple adjustment for this carburetor. It is an electronic carburetor that is controlled by the engines computer. Before attempting to adjust this carburetor you need to first make sure that the computer and its sensors are all working correctly. That means plugging a computer scanner into the diagnostic port that is located under the dash. There are a series of sensor problems like the oxygen sensor, the coolant temperature sensor, the manifold vacuum sensor that could be giving the computer false reading and causing the rich mixture. Also on these GM engines I have found that the vapor canister purge valve often leaks and causes rich mixture. The first step is to scan the computer and repair any defects picked up. Have you done these steps yet? Let me know.
