Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1952 Chevy, Adding power steering, adding turn signals

Question

I just purchased a 1952 Chevy and it doesn't have turn signals or power steering. Can you suggest a source for either or both? Thanks in advance for your time...

Answer
The power steering unit from a 1953 or 1954 Chevrolet will fit.  Power steering was not available in 1952 on Chevrolets from the factory.

Turn signals were an option on your car - if you can find a 51 or 52 in a wrecking yard with turn signals, you can have them removed and sent to you.  Try Desert Valley Auto Parts in Phoenix, Az.

You will have to add the wiring and dual contact bulb sockets for the turn signal circuits, and re-wire the stop light wiring to install it.

You can also buy an aftermarket kit to install them on your car - contact J.C.Whitney company - I believe they still sell them.  The web site is www.jcwhitney.com  The kit will come with directions for installing it.  It won't match the factory installation, but it will work.
