Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine speed, dixon ztr, multimeter

Question
I have a 1997 Dixon ZTR with a Kohler MV20s. I was wondering how you check the RPM with a multimeter. I just rebuilt everything and I want to make sure the rpm isn't set too high. Thanks for the help.  Dave

My multimeter has that capability, but I have never tried it, I would have to read the manual for it.  Many quality multimeters have manuals downloadable on the internet, try googling the brand and model of your multimeter.  
   Otherwise, you could stop by your local mower shop and ask them to tach it, might charge you $5, but likely not.

Sorry for not being more helpful, but 90% of my multimeter's
functions have never been tried.
