i want to buy this car but the owner says it needs a new dynamo. and battery. i know what a battery is but not a dynamo. what is it and its funtion? thank you. frank

Dynamo is just the British word for generator.

I encourage you to buy the car if you like it.  These cars are very well supported by the Studebaker Drivers Club, and there is a very good supply of parts and technical advice on them through the club. My wife and I both enjoyed our Hawks, and other Studebakers for many years, and find that they are reliable, fast, economical, good looking cars, and you probably won't have any trouble picking your car out in a parking lot full of beige Toyotas!
