Classic/Antique Car Repair: Rear alignment, upper control arm, alignment shop

Question
I am restoring a 62 Impala, the rear body (chassis) is shifted and rubs the rear left tire.  How does one re-align the back end.  I was told in the day when drag racing an additional upper control arm (boomerang arm) was added to correct and prevent the misalignment.

Answer
Something has to be either broken or seriously damaged in your rear suspension.  Your car has both upper and lower rear control arms - I'm guessing one or more of them are broken or disconnected.

You should have a good alignment technician inspect the car to identify the problem - it's beyond my experience or knowledge.

You could try jacking up the car and inspecting things yourself, but it would be just luck if you spot the problem yourself - and it's going to have to go to the alignment shop anyway to get it adjusted so the car doesn't go down the road crab-wise.
