Classic/Antique Car Repair: tranny swap, 700r, 700r4

I have a 1989 chevy subberben. it had 359 small block which blew. im know runnining a 454 big block. the origanal transmision is a 700r which isburnt i have no drive and no overdrive. what would be the corect transmision to bolt up to the 454. also the subberban is a 4 wheel drive. thanx for any help.

This is a much newer vehicle than I am used to working on, so take this advice with that in mind.  The only automatic I would put behind a 454 is a Turbo-Hydro 400 - those were what was used when the engine first came out, and it can take the torque of a big block - The 700R4 was at its limit with the 350.   

Put your question to some of the other guys on this service that have more experience with modern vehicles - you might get a different answer.

If your Suburban had been a 1935 year model, I'd have been much more comfortable answering your question.   (Didn't know they had them back then, did you?)
