Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340 cranks but will not start, dodge dart sport, ballast resistor

Question
Our Dart has no fire at the coil. No power at distributor connection cranking off or on. There is power at the positive coil terminal. There is power at the ballast. The ballast, ignition module, coil have all been replaced. The electronic distributor has been removed and replaced with a Pertronix distributor wired directly to the coil. All wiring has been testing for continuity
, there is no apparent problem, the car will not start it has no fire. It will not start in crank or on position. The car started and ran, started at least 10 times and ran for about an hour (for 20 minutes while breaking in the cam at 2,000 RPM.) The car was turned off and the temporary Holley carb. was replaced with the original thermo quad which is pumping fuel. The car never started again. Help please.  Has anyone had this happen?  Any thoughts appreciated.

Answer
If you are sure there is no fire at the coil, try this(CAUTION: Use rubber gloves when handling the high tension lead); Disconnect the NEGATIVE lead from the coil(the connection going to the distributor) and connect a length of wire long enough to touch chassis ground with.  Disconnect the high tension lead from the distributor(center wire) but leave the other end on the coil; place it where it will not short to you or to ground. Turn the ignition ON.  With a multimeter, test the coil for 12VDC at the positive connection.  If not, the ballast resistor is bad or you need to troubleshoot the ignition ON circuit. If good, touch to coil negative connection (the extra length of wire you connected) to chassis ground momentarily to charge the coil.  Immediately after, touch the high tension lead from coil to ground; look closely to see if it throws a spark.   If not, you have a bad coil.  If good, there is something wrong in the distributor ground circuit(bad/dirty ground, bad points, bad condenser, bad engine ground.)
