Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1984 pontiac parisienne w/ water in the fuel, 1984 pontiac parisienne, pontiac parisienne

Question
hey vern. hopefully you can help me. I purchased some gasoline that had water in it and of course, my car won't run right. I first tried isoheet but that didn't work. I then took off the entire gas tank and emptied almost all the way, reattached it and put in some fresh gas. still won't stay running. we only put in 2 gals. was that enough? where do I go from here?

Answer
Hi Stephanie:
You most likely have water in the fuel line, but you may still have water in the fuel tank as well. If this was just a small amount of water, a full tank of gas will dissolve/dilute any small amount of water remaining, so two gas wasn't enough to do this. Try filling the tank all the way to the top with premium gas first, and see if this will fix the problem. It may run a little rough at first, but she should settle down once pure gas gets in the line.

However, if you have a lot of water still in the tank, then you will have to drain it completely and blow out the fuel line.
