Question
i was getting a whine in the wheel ( i would fill the leaking resvr, up and it would stop. now it has a squeal, today it was smoking from the back of the engine/firewall, i believe. it wasn't squealing this bad yesterday but this morning i didn't even have to turn the wheel to hear it. and its smoking even when i drive 2 blocks.i know i have a leak somewhere but the smoking from the back now concerns me please help.

Answer
Hi Sandy:
You could be dripping power steering fluid on the engine or manifold, which is causing the smoking. The squealing noise is most like your power steering belt is loose. This need to be tighten and/or replaced. That should take care of the noise problem. The power steering unit should be replace if it's leaking that bad.
