Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh governor, bowl style, hello bill

Question
I have a Murray lawn mower (13 yrs. old) with a Tecumseh 3.8 HP Legend engine.  The carb is a bowl style.  I recently had to replace the fuel line, and when I pulled the carb/aircleaner/manifold body, the spring (I believe the governor spring) came off and I was unable to find it.  This spring was attached somewhere the inside of the carb/aircleaner mainifold. I bought another spring, but I can't tell where to hook it.  It looks like one end of the spring goes to a bracket attached to the engine block itself.  Where does this spring attach?  What size of spring should I use for this so it runs/idles correctly?  Thanks

Answer
 Hello Bill:

The Spring is attached to the Governor Arm and goes to the Short Arm behind the Speed Control Bracket. When you move the Throttle Cable you will see a small arm behind the Bracket the moves when you move the Throttle Cable. The Spring is Attachet to this. The Spring can be purchased from any Small Engine Repair Shop. Any other Spring will not work. I have tried many times.  Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
