Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1969 Ford Fairlane, ford 500, transmission linkage

Question
Hello Casey,
I have a 1969 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible with a 351w and 3 speed manual transmission (column shifter).  The car starts up no problem and the engine sounds good, but the clutch is shot (specifically the linkage) so I can't drive it right now.  I'm looking for a recommendation on a reliable auto shop to take it to, that will have expertise on this particular car.  I live in Temecula, CA.

Answer

If these guys cant help you, you should do a google search for Temecula, Ca. auto engine repair, there you should find a multitude of shops to choose from.

If its only the linkage, I recommend doing the repair yourself buying a linkage kit from a parts house. If the problem is inside the steering column I suggest replacing the entire column. you can get one of these from just about any wrecking yard that has older ford cars close to your year model and you can change this out in just a few hours.

Hope this helps...
