Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1956 Chevy Belair, 1956 chevy belair, shift indicator

Question
Tazz, really could use your help on this. I am restoring my 1956 Chevy Belair and ran into a problem. I swapped out the original motor with a 350 as well as the tranny and now having difficulty getting the shift indicator to line up with the appropriate gear. (example: park, reverse, drive etc...) I have changed the indicator in the dash but need to know the trick on lining up the selector with the little silver clip behind the column chrome trim piece.

Answer
Not real sure your problem. Are you talking about the clip on the rider cable itself?

We just 'slipped' the cable until Park lined up. The shift trans all the way to l
Low. Then if it wasn't correct, we split the difference and it worked okay.
Clear as mud?
