Audio Systems: cd player, machine oil, cold temperature

Question
I have a 98 Ford Escort with a tape player. I use an adapter for a CD player, but the tape player has been periodically ejecting the tape; typically this happens in cold weather.

Answer
Probably high friction from the cold temperature; puts stress on the drive or take up motors in the mechanism.  The high torque trips the IC ccntroller and ejects the tape.  That would be my guess.

Try lubricating the moving parts with machine oil very very lightly.

Hope this helps.
