Classic/Antique Car Repair: 350 turbo transmission, gear shift linkage, auto models

Question
I have a turb 350 transmission that won't go into gear, what could the problem be?

Answer
Hi Kathy:
The make and model of the automobile would be helpful, as many auto models used different safety methods for controlling the gear shift. However, if your transmission won't go into any gear, this usually means the gear shift linkage is stuck or bent. There is also a safety switch on some models years that requires your foot on the brake before an auto can be shift into gear. If your car is equipped with such a switch, it may be bad. Without any additional information, I'm really speculating.
