Question
vehicle overheated and trace of hydrocarbans showed up in cdoolant...heads have been removed pressure tested , replaced w new gaskt new thermo and water pump... no hydrocarbens show up in coolant .vehicle will run cool when thermo out or coolant routed around thermostat.   2 new thermostats have been installed and intermitant overheating remains...these thermos look pretty standard but are enclosed in a permanent housing with 3 hose connections...can the lines be connected improperly that would cause intermitent problem?

Answer
Hi Rob,

I doubt routing of coolant hoses is the problem, they are preformed and fit only a certain way.

So you pressure tested the coolant system and no problems were found.  Could be a crack in the block?

Send me an email and I'll reply with a cooling system layout diagram that shows you how hoses and lines are placed.

Best of luck,
