Classic/Antique Car Repair: 454 engine fan coming on way too often, chevy 454 engine, southwind rv

Question
Hi, I got the reply below from you, but I'm not sure what you mean.  I haven't asked this question before, and haven't received an answer of the question from you, and can't find an answer from you on the subject using Search.  Do you mean you answered it for someone else?  Is it posted somewhere?

Here's a copy of your reply and my original question:

"I have already answered this question for you once before."

Your Question was:

I have a Chevy 454 engine in a 1989 Southwind RV.  It has only about 25,000 mi on it.  The really loud engine fan comes on way too often, when the temp gauge is still on cold. It drives me crazy that this jet-engine loud fan comes on when it's not needed (engine has been running only a few minutes, in cool weather on flat ground, engine gauge on cold, no A/C on).  And it's got to be hurting my gas mileage, which isn't great to begin with.

Do you know how I can check the switch that controls this?  Is it possible to disconnect the fan and replace it with a quieter electric fan?

Answer
Sunday I type a fairly lengthy reply to this and sent it.
the computer tends to loose about one in twelve, sounds like you were lucky 13.

Here is a brief summary of my reply.

sounds like the sensor for the fan which is different than the guage you read is weak.

I don't know on an RV where it would be, but should be traceable from the fan wiring.

Also, your fan should not be loud. Might need replacing.

You mentioned changing it out for an electric, it is electric.
