Mitsubishi Repair: 2000 Galant Window Motor, salvage yards, older cars

Question
My daughter has a 2000 Galant and the window doesn't work on the driver's side front.  You can hear the motor trying to engage, but the window will not go down.  In addition, it will not stay up on it's own either.  As you drive it gradually starts sliding down into the track.  We pulled it apart one day and it looked like a metal wire of some type had broken loose.  Do you know if this wire is part of the window motor assembly?  I have been pricing window motors at salvage yards, but want to make sure I'm looking for the right part.  Any suggestions are appreciated!

Lynda C: You need to go to a parts store and buy yourself a repair manual for your car. It will explain all about things. Every car is different, the repair manual would have a wiring diagram which would help you. One reason the window does not stay up though, is because it is off it's track. If the wire is in the door, it has to be apart of something there. Again you need to get that repair manual. They cost around $20.00 and are well worth the money. I like Haynes as they walk you through things and have pictures. To be honest here, I mostly work on older cars. Your daughter's car is new enough that you must becareful working on things, because you do not want to set off that air bag. But again that repair manual would explain about that too. Hope this helps and good luck!
