Classic/Antique Car Repair: 82 corvette/fuel pump/cross fire, oil pressure switch, fuel pump relay

Question
i have a 82 corvette and it just quit,i feel sure it's fuel related cause the injectors are not pulsing any gas in the throttle bodies,my question is, do the fuel pump and fuel sending unit run off the same 2 wires going in the tank? i can disconnect the connector going to the top of the tank and the fuel gauge quits working, turning the key on or turning the motor over does not produce a fuel pump sound in the tank and also can the pump be removed without removing the tank? THANKS!! a bunch.

Answer
The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and my best sources indicate that the tank just be dropped to service the pump. Yes, one of the two wires operates the pump. In most cases it will be gray on this car although it could be tan. To test the fuel pump connect a jumper to the battery POS and run it to terminal "G" on the computer test connector. To locate terminal "G" remember that terminals "A" and "B" have a slot cut between them to allow for grounding to get the diagnostic codes to flash on the check engine light. If the fuel pump runs and the car starts with terminal "G" jumped the problem is fuel pump relay, fuse, oil pressure switch, or computer. Good luck.
